Delivery Information

Delivery information all year round

Up until March 2020, all parcels required a signature on delivery.  However, all delivery companies have reviewed their policies since the Coronavirus pandemic & the one below is taken from www.apc-overnight.com (Terms & Conditions of Carriage).  Along with Royal Mail, we use APC to deliver your cheese orders.

APC delivery policy, effective Saturday 14th  March 2020: In light of the Coronavirus pandemic, and in order to protect the safety of both consignees and the delivery drivers, we have temporarily relaxed the requirement of Clause 5 (2)  and will be adopting the NO CONTACT DELIVERY PRACTICE. Consignees will not be required to personally sign the ePOD device or hard copy document, but will be required to provide their name verbally to the delivery driver whereby the driver will include this on the delivery record. Whereby a customer refuses to provide their name, the consignment will not be left with them but fall under the ‘refused goods’ process.

It is our experience of delivery drivers, & especially when they are very busy, that they may opt to leave a parcel in a "Safe Place" if no-one is at home.  It is also our experience of delivery companies, that we are unable to guarantee a next day delivery or a specific delivery day once the order has been dispatched. If no-one is in at the delivery address, a card will be left with details of where it has been left. Parcels may be left with a neighbour or returned to the delivery depot to await re-delivery instructions from the recipient. We can also arrange for orders to be delivered to places of work if this would be a more suitable option.

We recommend that in all circumstances where goods are being sent as a gift, customers contact and advise the recipient to expect a delivery.

A contact phone number will be required in addition to the delivery address and if not provided may result in delays in the event of an attempted delivery. We would like to make it clear that any phone numbers given to us will only be used if necessary in relation to a specific order or delivery and for no other purpose.

We regret that we are not able to deliver to B.F.P.O or P.O. addresses or outside of the UK.

Please note that in the event of severe weather or circumstances, deliveries may be delayed, but we will do our best to keep customers informed.

Delivery methods

We have recently reduced our delivery charge & our new policy is to to use a range of delivery methods to according to the weight of parcels & delivery areas to enable us to keep this charge as low as possible.  From November 2020, this will be as follows:

Parcels under 1kg in weight (including packaging) will be sent by 1st class post (Royal Mail), whenever possible.

Parcels between 1kg & 2kg (including packaging), will be sent either by Royal Mail or APC.

Parcels for chutneys only (ie not including perishable items such as cheese) may be sent by second class post due to the additional weight of these products.

Scotland (Lowland mainland areas) - for parcels up to 2kg, Royal Mail is our preferred method of delivery though on some occasions we may use APC. Parcels over 2kg will be sent with APC.

Scotland - Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland & all areas not on the UK mainland : Royal Mail is our preferred delivery company for all of these areas due to the prohibitive cost of courier deliveries to these areas.  Parcels of up to 2kg in weight (including all packaging) are covered by our standard delivery charge of £5.00.  Any parcels over this weight will be subject to a higher delivery charge according to weight & we may need to contact you for any extra delivery charges or to discuss amendments to your order after you have placed it.  Please contact us by phone (01677 423248) or by email info@yorkshiredalescheese.co.uk or by using the contact from on our website if you would like us to advise prior to you placing an order.

Local deliveries: We are currently doing FREE deliveries in Leeming Bar & our surrounding villages.  We also make relatively regular trips to Bedale & Northallerton so if you live in these areas, or anywhere in-between, please contact us by phone or email to enquire about this service.  If you know anyone who would like to use this service & who doesn't have access to the internet, please feel free to enquire on their behalf or give them our phone number 01677 423248.  We also sell at a number of farmers markets & occasional events so you are welcome to pre-order & collect from us there.  Please click on the events tab for further details.
